Chapter 2 - The Storm ( The Lost Cause Series ) ~ Cactus Evergreen

           Chapter 2 - The Storm 
Walking through the halls today felt empty. I felt numb. We stopped next to the door of our Kaida Room. My legs wouldn't move, The fear of this test made me shiver. I slowly walked in and stood beside Nyx, Ravi close behind us. Little did I know that the real test had just begun.

 Our teacher, Ms Jinx, grabbed Nyx by the arm and took her into the test room. 

The test wasn't anything complicated. just a blood test, that could determine your future. No pressure, right? 
Watching Nyx walk in, I felt my head throbbing with fear. Nyx came out within a few minutes. It looked as though she had passed. 
She was one of the only students who had manifested their powers. Nyx is a shadow summoner, known as Umbra. My other classmates Ciro and Petal had also manifested. 

Soon, it was my turn. I walked nervously into the bright test room. I've been scared of needles for as long as I can remember, another trait I inherited from my mother. Seeing the large needle almost made me pass out. I squeezed my eyes shut and felt the sharp needle pierce my skin with force. I waited for the results on the large hologram walls. Thankfully, I passed. 

I stood next to Nyx, extremely relieved. The only one left was Ravi. I gave him an encouraging look before he walked into the test lab. 

Nyx and I waited for what felt like hours. We were starting to get extremely worried. Suddenly, an alarm started blaring and all the lights switched off. 
I grabbed Nyx and ducked under the nearest table, right before the doors of our Kaida Room swung open.

My heart was racing at a pace I didn't even think was possible. The room was so quiet that my head hurt. I almost screamed when I saw the High Mirari guards rushing into the test room. The same test room Ravi was in. 

Something changed in me, all I felt was pure energy flowing through my veins. I looked down at my hands to see them covered in lightning sparks. The sparks were glowing bright green as they danced around my hands. 

I had just manifested the rarest power in our galaxy.
