The Lost Cause - CactusEvergreen7

             The Lost Cause

Prologue -

" Have you gathered them? "
Her words echoed across the empty, sunlit room.
"Yes, my queen. "
" Excellent. Start the transmission, general. Soon, we will be half-blood-free. "
The water spirit queen had made up her mind. A half-blood-free planet and her sister would be gone too.

Chapter 1 - The Planet of the Lost.

Anila:

I live on a different planet. You wouldn't have heard about it. It's called The Lost Cause. We are a small planet in the Millennial Galaxy. Our solar system is formed by 2 planets. Us, and the "High Mirari". We have been ruled by them for the last 7 centuries, and living on The Lost Cause has become a constant game of life and death.

Well, besides the whole gruesome story about our solar system, let me tell you about myself. I'm a student of Kaida Academy, the most prestigious school in The Lost Cause, though, every now and then we do have many scans and tests for anyone with impure millennial blood. That basically means that if your ancestors were not from this galaxy then, farewell. It's rather awful, isn't it?

Today is my 15th birthday and test day. Great. I quickly ran to the kitchen made myself some dragon fruit squash stew, hopped onto my dragon, Minsi and flew as fast as I could to school. Yes, I was late. Again. On the way, I thought about my mother. It was her birthday too. She would have been 50 this year. I never really knew my mother, she had run away 10 years ago. My dad always says that we both have the same, hot-headed yet sensitive, personality.

At school, Ravi was waiting for me outside along with my other best friend, Nyx.
After tying up Minsi to the dragon post, I headed towards my friends.

Ravi said, " Well you're late as usual, Anila. "
" Wow. No hi, hello maybe a happy birthday? "
Ravi and Nyx flushed with embarrassment. " Sorry, Happy Birthday. ", they both said in unison.
Ravi softly said, " We really have to get to class. "
Nyx with her sharp tongue replied, " Well it's not like you're the one heading inside, so quit lecturing us about getting to class and move."

Nyx stormed off into the grand halls of the school, her frost blue eyes glinting in the sun and short black hair going wild over her face in her rage. She tried her best to hide it, but she was going through a really tough time and was having trouble dealing with her emotions. Ravi and I knew how much she hated tests.

Ravi slowly turned to me and said, " Sorry, about not wishing you. How are you holding up...with your mother's birthday and all? "
I replied, " Oh, it's fine, I'm alright, I guess. "
He gave me a tiny nod in reply.
I asked Ravi, " Why is Nyx in such a bad mood today? Her usual test day rage?"
" Beats me, though she's right we should probably head inside", he said gesturing his head to the doors.
"Yeah. ", I replied quietly.

He knew how much I hated these tests and how much they reminded me of my mother and her cause.
My mother was a rebel, banished here. She would tell me stories about rebellions and injustice in our solar system. These tests reminded me of how much she had to go through. I guess that's what she taught me, everything has a cause.
Ravi gave me a knowing look before walking inside the large, sunlit halls of Kaida Academy.
